Create a Perfect Barbecue Grill

If you love eating grilled meat, then you should definitely consider getting a barbecue grill for your home. This will enable you to enjoy your favorite food at the convenience of your home rather than having to go out at a barbecue shop every now and then. And below, we look at six things you must keep in mind when looking to buy a barbecue grill.

Size Of The Grill

Firstly, you need to consider what size the grill needs to be. This essentially boils down to the cooking area of the grill. If you have a family of more than four members, then a cooking area of about 400 to 500 inches is recommended. In addition, the model should also have three burners so that the food can be cooked appropriately. Now, if you are looking for models with a size of more than 500 inches, then you should look for at least five burners in the model.

Fire Color

You also need to consider the color of the fire you get from the grill. Ideally, the fire should be blue in color since it represents the best fire for cooking. There should be no spikes having a yellowish-orange tinge. Such a color indicates that the gas has only partly heated. This can eventually lead to the meat being undercooked, and can also result in soot. In contrast, blue flame indicates that the gas is being completely heated, ensuring that the meat will be grilled to perfection.

Type Of Burner

The burner is one of the main components of a grill. Without a good quality burner, your barbecue grill won’t function properly and the food will not be cooked to perfection. Generally, you will have to choose from four different types of grill burners – cast iron, stainless steel, tin, and infrared burners. Cast iron burners have been in use since long and provide good enough heating to the meats. However, their drawback is that they can rust very quickly. And considering that the meat on the grill is going to give off fat, cast iron burners may not look like a good enough investment for many people. Other types of burners, like the tin burner, can also faces issues of rust. In addition, they provide less heat than expected. Meanwhile, infrared burners are used mostly for caramelizing the meat or heating it up. They are not suitable for delicate cooking tasks. Finally, there are the stainless steel burners. These are considered the best burners for barbecue grills and offer the perfect blue fire when compared to other burners. Plus, they also last much longer when compared to tin and cast iron burners.

Assembly

The next thing to look out for is the assembling of the grill. Ideally, you should get models that can be assembled as quickly as possible when necessary. If the assembly process takes too long, then it can interfere with your ability to enjoy the grilled meat. This is especially true if you are hosting a small party at your home. In this situation, wasting time on assembling the grill is the last thing you would want to do.  So, the faster you can assemble a grill and make it ready for operation, the better it is.

Heating Capacity

Another important factor to consider is the heating capacity of the burner. This can be judged by looking at the BTU of the grill.  Just check for the BTU mentioned by the manufacturer and divide it by the total area (cm) of the grill. If the resulting figure is above 15 BTU/square cm, then the grill can be considered good enough for cooking purposes. And as far as possible, avoid buying grills that have less than 15 BTU/square cm since sufficient amount of heat will not be dissipated to the area, resulting in undercooked meats. You also need to look at the location of the burner. If the burner is too close to the heating surface, then the heat from the fire will only be concentrated over a small part. As a result, meats that are placed at the edge of the grill will not be properly cooked. To make sure that this does not happen, only purchase grills where the surface is placed at a spot high above the burner so that heat reaches all parts equally.

Warranty And Service

Finally, check for the warranty offered by the grill. Stay away from products that do not offer any warranty, no matter how cheap they are. Remember that you will be using the grill for many years to come. As such, in case the grill is damaged, then you can easily get it replaced with a warranty rather than waste time and money for bbq grill repair.

So, keep the above points in mind when searching for a barbecue grill, and you will surely find the perfect grill to cook your meat on.
