1. Make sure that your tomatoes get enough sunlight.

It is easy to determine the pH of the soil by using a soil tester. This tester can be bought from the Garden Center or your local Cooperative Extension Service.
Solve the problem of your soil before planting tomatoes. Add lime water if your soil is too acidic, while you have to add sulfur or composted organic matter if it is alkaline.

3. Timing is everything.
Everything will be good at a certain time. You can either start your own seedlings or you can buy them grown up.
Tomatoes grow in warm weather, so you have to wait till the temperature of soil goes over 60 degrees Fahrenheit then start planting.

4. Plant deeply.
